Hearing God is not something peculiar or abnormal, and it does not require special powers or super-spirituality. It is the simple, practical, and joyful way of living as Jesus’ disciple. - Dallas Willard
Your RELATIONSHIPS will always determine the quality and direction of your life.
HOW TO KNOW YOUR HEARING FROM GOD

Scripture - Promises of God

Holy Spirit - Peace of God

Trusted Voices - People of God
HOW TO RECOGNIZE A TRUSTED VOICE IN YOUR LIFE
They have a growing relationship with God.
They pray for you behind your back.
They always bring you back to the Bible.
They have your best interest at heart.
They love you enough to tell you the truth.
HOW TO SHARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE GOD IS SAYING TO YOU WITH SOMEONE

1.) Partner with God, don’t try to be God.

2.) Give them the headline, not the entire article.

3.) Create space for reflection; don't rush the moment.

4.) Always point them to Jesus.
SMALL GROUP GUIDE

Icebreaker Question

Share about a time when someone gave you advice or encouragement that had a lasting impact on your life.
BIG IDEA

God speaks to us in many ways: through Scripture, the Holy Spirit, and trusted voices. Learning to recognize and respond to these voices can shape the quality and direction of our lives.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1.) What stands out to you about the way Jethro approached Moses with advice? Why do you think Moses was willing to listen to Jethro?

2.) God speaks to us through the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit, and trusted voices. Which of these three is easiest for you to rely on? Which is the hardest? Why?

3.) Think of someone God has used as a trusted voice in your life. Who are they, and how has God used them?

4.) Have you ever received advice or correction that was hard to hear but ultimately helpful? How did you respond, and what did you learn from the experience?

5.) What steps can you take to become more open to receiving wisdom from trusted voices, even when it challenges your own plans or perspectives?
E.S.P.N. for the Group Leader to Remember:

Encouragement
Leadership is 51% encouragement. Don’t underestimate the power of a kind word or a thoughtful affirmation. Look for opportunities to call out the good in each person and remind them of God’s work in their life. Encouragement builds trust and fosters connection in your group.

Scripture
Make space to read Scripture out loud together. God’s Word is living and active, and hearing it read aloud can open hearts and minds to His truth in a powerful way. Even a short passage can spark meaningful conversation and reflection.

Prayer
Create intentional moments for your group to pray together. Whether it’s a simple prayer for the week or interceding for specific needs, prayer connects us to Jesus—and Jesus transforms lives.

Next Step
Always point your group toward one clear, actionable next step before you end. It could be as simple as spending five minutes in stillness this week, reading a specific Scripture, or reaching out to someone in love. A clear next step helps people take what they’ve learned and put it into practice.
