Connecting with God - Jonas Marie Jeanne

Connecting with God - Jonas Marie Jeanne

We all strive for and seek a connection with God, but sometimes we may feel like we are missing the boat or getting it wrong. Yet God, the creator of the universe, desires a deep connection with us. We were created for relationship with him, and can build connection with God through words, worship and prayer.

1. Connecting to God through words

- Wording things allows us to express our thoughts and feelings and connect with God in an intimate and deep way.
- Writing things allows us to unload out hearts and minds and allows God to talk to us through his scriptures.
2. Connecting to God through worship

Psalm 147:1 (NIV)
Praise the Lord. How good is to sing praises to our God; how pleasant and fitting to praise him! It is good to praise the Lord.

- "Singing is the natural expression of the redeemed soul." When we realise what God has done for us, it is easy to praise him.

Genesis 24:26 (NIV)
Then the man bowed down and worshipped the Lord.

- We can also worship through bowing. Bowing is an act of respect, submission and humility. It is not just a physical action but a progressive state of mind.
3. Connecting to God through prayer

- Prayer is a place where you close your eyes and call out to God.
- Jesus always found time to disconnect from the world, by going to a quiet place to connect to his Father through prayer.
- "True prayer is the trading of the heart with God." - Charles Spurgeon
