“The Awe Of God” Book

By John Bevere

• The fear of the Lord most often comes from us cultivating our hearts
• At times, a holy spirit of awe rests over us as a gift (Isaiah 11:2-3)
• Like marriage, being holy is both 1) a position (righteous, justified, right standing before God, set apart) and 2) a behavior
• Fear of the Lord = our lives are redirected away from evil as the Holy Spirit is empowering us to live towards Him
• Notice this verse didn’t say it’s because of the love of the Lord one departs from evil”

• We love someone to the level of our understanding and appreciation
• Many believers genuinely love God, but without the fear of Him, that very love becomes compromised and is ultimately undone
• Adam and Eve walked with God, knew His voice, and partnered with Him in tending to creation, yet ended up disobeying His commands because they wanted to be “like God”
• When trust in marriage is broken, deep levels of intimacy are lost (unshared desires/thoughts/secrets), but it can be rebuilt over time
Fully loving God requires us to keep His commandments (John 14:15)
“How little people know who think that holiness is dull. When one meets the real thing, it is irresistible.” C. S. Lewis
• As we behold His glory, we are transformed into His image (2 Cor 3:18)
• Pursue: do with intense effort, persistent, follow intently, and engage in
• People can’t help but see God when we bring peace and holiness
• Righteous living is irresistible to others (curiosity, longing, disdain, etc.)
Many scholars believe Satan was the worship leader in the Throne Room Of Heaven but rebelled out of pride, which caused him and 1/3 of the angels that surrendered him to be banished and cast down to earth as punishment

[Isaiah 14:12, Ezekiel 28:1-19, Luke 10:18, Revelation 9:1 & 12:3-9]
