1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
Pastor Jerry Koller
Ā· The word sanctified that Paul uses has to do with the process of making or becoming holy.
Ā· It has to do with the idea of being set apart as holy.
Ā· It has to do with the idea of being set apart as holy.
Sanctification begins with our conversion and continues until the coming of Christ.
Positional Sanctification: This is an immediate standing that occurs when we enter a saving relationship with Christ.
And by that will, we have been made holyā¦ (NIV)
Progressive Sanctification: This progressive act is part of God's predetermined plan for all believers, that according to Romans 8:29, we become conformed to the image (or the likeness) of the Son (Jesus Christ).
Prospective Sanctification: This is the end result or the ultimate outcome of our sanctification.
Todayās Scripture deals with some specific categories of sin that must be purged from our lives in this sanctification process.
Immorality means not aligning up to what is right or wrong.
Ā· In this case, right and wrong is in according to Godās standards.
Ā· We cannot address sex in and of itselfāas if it is a separate entityāapart from some kind of context.
Ā· In this case, right and wrong is in according to Godās standards.
Ā· We cannot address sex in and of itselfāas if it is a separate entityāapart from some kind of context.
The first man and first woman were unique. Unlike every other person who has ever lived, these two people were not born. They were created.
Ā· God created man in His image. He created woman in His image.
Ā· Together they reflect the image of God more fully, more completely than they do separately.
Ā· Together they reflect the image of God more fully, more completely than they do separately.
These details are the foundation on which sexual morality is built.
God created woman and He created her from man. She was not formed from the dust of the ground. This illustrates the importance of the sacredness of a marriage relationship. There is no other human relationship like it.
Ā· This relationship is so special; a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife.
Ā· This relationship is so unique, so uniting, so permanent, it is as if God was giving Adam back the rib that He took from his side to fashion the woman.
Ā· She becomes bone of his boneāflesh of his flesh.
Ā· The man and woman, the husband and wife, become one flesh.
Ā· This relationship is so special; a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife.

Ā· She becomes bone of his boneāflesh of his flesh.
Ā· The man and woman, the husband and wife, become one flesh.
God did not create sex as a separate entity. It springs from within a marriage relationship. The responsibility to be fruitful and increase in numbers happens through sex.
God has allowed human reproduction so that man may be fruitful and increase in number; so that he may fill the earth.
APPLICATION
Ā· Why? This is not according to the will of God.
Ā· It is not a part of the sanctification process.
Ā· It is not a part of the sanctification process.
It is Godās will that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorableā¦
Ā· These are two intended outcomes of sanctification.
Ā· These are two intended outcomes of sanctification.
It is Godās will that we control our bodies as far as marital intimacy is concerned,
Happy Birthday!

Have You Considered?
Did you know that if your bank offers online services, you can set your tithe up as a regular ābill paymentā through your bank? This is a convenient option to help with continuity in giving and the ability for you to tithe even when you are on vacation or miss church. It eliminates having to wonder if you turned in your offering while you were gone! If you have questions or would like more information about how to utilize this convenient option, check with your banking institution or contact the church office.
Pop Cans = Scholarships
Donāt forget that your beverage can & bottle donations are used to fund teen scholarships for youth retreats, summer camps, special activities, etc. Please bring your recyclable items to the church anytime!
