a. With Grace and Peace from God v. 2
II. Speak Good about God because He speaks Good about You v. 1:1-14
a. God speaks good about us because He made us good in Christ v. 3-6
b. God makes us good in Christ by making us one with Him v. 7-10
c. God makes you one with Christ because your hope in Christ v. 11-14
The main idea of the opening verses of Ephesians is to utterly dissolve all the hang ups, struggles, and reservations we all have in our faith experience, because whether we are mature or immature in Christ...we are still in Christ! By drawing our attention off of ourselves and onto Christ, Paul convicts us to speak good about God because God speaks good about us in Christ. The deep theology in the opening 14 verses is presented in a poetic way that can make one ponder for a lifetime, but no matter how deep we go in Christ, His purpose is always the same: I've loved you and made you holy and blameless - you are in Christ - you who believe in the Gospel.
