1. An angel appeared.
2. Fled by night.

Immediately
3. Out of Egypt.
“Historically, Egypt was a place of refuge for many seeking safety from political turmoil, which aligns with Joseph's decision to protect his family from Herod's wrath.” Berean https://biblehub.com/matthew/2-15.htm
“Egypt had been a house of bondage to Israel, and particularly cruel to the infants of Israel, yet it is to be a place of refuge to the holy Child Jesus. God, when he pleases, can make the worst of places serve the best of purposes.” Henry https://biblehub.com/commentaries/matthew/2-15.htm
“In the days of the Exodus, Israel was the one representative instance of the Fatherhood of God manifested in protecting and delivering His people. Now there was a higher representative in the person of the only begotten Son.” Ellicott’s https://biblehub.com/matthew/2-15.htm
Sermon Questions

1. Why do you think Joseph had three different instances where an angel appeared to him?

2. Tell of a time when you have stayed faithful despite the challenges around you.

3. Tell of a time when you had to flee quickly.

4. You were encouraged maybe to have a "word of the year" (like immediately). Do you have a word or a spiritual plan for growth in 2025? If so, please share with the group or Pastor Steve.

5. Joseph and Mary took steps to flee quickly. Why do you think they did so quickly? What convinced them of this? Do you respond like this when God calls?

6. Is there an area of bondage you would like to share with the group and have others pray for you?
