Pride is a preoccupation and focus on ourselves.

“Humility is not thinking too highly of yourself or too low of yourself; humility is not thinking of yourself at all.”

God made us into a new creation when we put our trust in Jesus, while we are still sinful. We no longer do our good deeds hoping to attain God’s grace and forgiveness. Instead, we understand we have already been shown grace and been forgiven fully, freely, and forever through the cross. And now, we can respond with good deeds out of gratitude for all he’s done for us!
