The Big Idea: It is not what’s going on around you and me that makes Christmas feel ‘out of control’; it is what’s going on in you and me that does.

Isaiah 9:2, 6 (NIV): The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. … 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 7:13-14 (NIV): Then Isaiah said, “Hear now, you house of David! Is it not enough to try the patience of humans? Will you try the patience of my God also? 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
