Joshua 4:20-24 says....
20 And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan.21 He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’22 tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’23 For the LORD your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The LORD your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Sea when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over.24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God.”10 When the LORD your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build11 houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied12 be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. Joshua 4:20-24
What was the purpose of this pile of rocks?
Read Deuteronomy 6:10-12...

Deuteronomy 6:10-12
God's people were told not to forget what God had done for them.
How well do you do when it comes to remembering what God has done for you?
Psalm 44:1-3 says....
1 We have heard it with our ears, O God; our ancestors have told us what you did in their days, in days long ago.2 With your hand you drove out the nations and planted our ancestors; you crushed the peoples and made our ancestors flourish.3 It was not by their sword that they won the land, nor did their arm bring them victory; it was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face, for you loved them.
The psalmist is saying in v.1 that "we have heard" meaning that their families and community discussed what God had done.
Do you talk about what God has done?
On Sunday, Shane took a few minutes and shared some stories of what God had done in his family.
What has God done in your life? As a group, take some time and discuss what God has done in the lives of people in your group. Every one of us probably has a wheel barrow full of things God has done. Relax, sit back and share some of what God has done in your life.
Thank God and close in prayer.
NOTE: The Wednesday after Thanksgiving there will be a prayer night focused on our Christmas outreach and worship through the month of December. (Wed., December 4th at 6:30pm.)
