Can’t Stand It
1 Thessalonians 3:1-6

Review of Paul’s Circumstances:
· Acts 17:2-5
· Acts 17:10-15
· Acts 17:11-15

The three came to a conclusion. Two of them would stay. One would return to Thessalonica to see how things are going.

· Timothy’s objective was to strengthen and encourage them in their faith.
· Intended outcome: so that no one would be unsettled by these trials. You know quite well that we were destined for them. (1 Thess. 3:3)
· Paul did not want the saints to become unsettled by the trials they were facing.
· Trials and tribulations that result in suffering, especially severe suffering, can easily shake anyone’s faith.

Paul reminds the saints: You know quite well that we were destined for them.
· Trials, persecution and suffering come with the territory.

Paul goes on to say,

The word “tempter” is a reference to the devil. This word Paul uses for tempter is the same one that is found in Matthew 4

· The word tempter itself is the same word Paul uses in verse 5.
· Therefore, we know he was referring to the devil just like Matthew did.

In addition, the word “tempted,” in Matt. 4:1, is the same word Paul uses in verse 5.

· ​Patrick Low had a successful procedure to break large kidney stones into smaller pieces. Thank you for your prayers and continued prayers as this is a lengthy, uncomfortable and sometimes painful process.
· Linda Newell will have surgery on 11/22 for a herniated disc in her lower back.
· Hannah Clouse (niece of Chet & Renee Goff) who lost her husband, Daren, in a car accident on 11/11. They have a 1 year-old son together and she has twins from a previous relationship.
· ​Dean & Linda Newell and their family upon the loss of Dean's mother, Marilyn Newell, on 11/8.
· Judy Jones (wife of Pastor Grady Jones/friend of Pastor Jerry) is recovering from a successful surgery and doctors believe they removed all of the cancer. She is waiting for biopsy results to decide how to proceed with treatment.
· John Randell (friend of Bruce Ferguson) has been diagnosed with stomach cancer.
· Bruce and Vasha Ferguson and their family who are mourning the loss of their 17 year-old great-grandson, Dontrell, following a car accident on 10/27. Dontrell was the son of Felicia who unexpectedly passed away in May.
· Bob & Camille Tate and their family, especially Bob's mother, Paula, in prayer as Bob's father passed away on 10/23.
· Tim Hendrix is recovering from successful shoulder replacement surgery.
· Sandi Starland is recovering from knee replacement surgery.
· Vasha Ferguson is recovering from surgery for carpal tunnel.
· Mary Buchert broke her wrist after a fall and continues to heal.
· Lennon McKamey (son of Kyle & Sarah) needs surgery on his shoulder. Please pray that preparing for surgery goes smoothly.
