Anger: Good or Bad?
Part 2
November 17, 2024
“Now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.”
(Colossians 3:8, New Living Translation)
HOW DO WE DEAL WITH OUR ANGER?
1. Is it ok to get angry?
 Anger is a signal.
“Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.”
(Ephesians 4:26–27, English Standard Version)
2. What is making us angry?
 Ask yourself why this bothers you.
“Why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying, ‘Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then nyou will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”
(Luke 6:41–42, NLT)
3. What do we do with our anger?
 What happened?
 How did it make me feel?
 What’s the damage?
 What’s my responsibility?
“Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”
(James 1:19–20, ESV)
4. Who has control of my life?
“God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”
(1 Corinthians 6:20, NLT)
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
(2 Corinthians 5:17, NLT)
“Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord. . . . Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”
(Romans 12:19–21, NLT)
