Matthew 5:38-48
Kingdom living means we have a rugged humility that looks like Jesus and loves for God.
Three legit ways to understand this passage:
No matter how we slice it, this teaching of Jesus is disturbing to us.

- Jesus is teaching us to surrender our personal rights to showcase Christlikeness and thereby astonish the offender allowing for God’s purposes

- Jesus is teaching us to respond in a way that turns the tables on the offender establishing our dignity while shaming the offender.

- Jesus is teaching us to respond in every unjust situation with God given dignity and Christlike grace instead of personal retaliation.
Jesus endured injustice on purpose = to bring God’s grace to sinners
How do we respond to someone who has wronged us?
We need to figure what Christlikeness looks like in our situations of mistreatment and offense.

How can we possibly live this kind of generous, unbiased, gracious love?

By practicing God’s love

By praying for people God loves
