Locations & Times

Christ Community - Brookside Campus

400 W 67th St, Kansas City, MO 64113, USA

Conversation Starters

1. Read Romans 14:1-23.

2. What areas of “dispute” do you find prevalent in the church today- specifically in your own church community or Christian circles? How do we tell the difference between “disputed matters” and essential things we should agree on?

3. Why is it important to honor other believers' convictions even if they don’t align with your own?

4. Where do you find yourself tempted to judge others who might hold to different convictions than you? How might you potentially act as a pitfall or stumbling block to other believers?
Title: A Family That Embraces Diversity
Reference: Romans 14:1-23
Speaker: Bill Gorman, BillG@cckc.church
– How can a church disagree without falling apart?
– If you can agree on Jesus, you can disagree on almost anything else.
– Don’t argue about disputed matters.
A disputable matter “is a practice about which God has not specifically spoken in his word. He has not clearly forbidden it nor clearly commanded it.” ~ Tim Keller, Romans for You
– Don’t judge one another.
– Don't destroy one another.
– Always welcome those Jesus has welcomed in the gospel.
We are to accept anyone the Lord has accepted in the gospel; we are not to condemn anyone for whom there is now no condemnation in the gospel. ~ Tim Keller, Romans for You
– Always listen to your conscience.
– Always pursue what promotes peace and builds up.
