Conversation Starters

1. Read Romans 13:11-14.

2. What do you think Paul means that “our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed” (v. 11)?

3. Do you find yourself needing to “wake up from sleep” in any way? What do you need to do in order to wake up, and what would your life look like if you did this?

4. Are there any of the works of “the flesh” listed here that we tend to be more tolerant of?

5. Twice in this passage Paul uses the phrase “put on” in reference to putting on the “armor of light” and putting on “the Lord Jesus Christ.” What do you think he means by this? What does doing this look like in your own personal life?

Wisdom is a tuning fork that brings our thoughts, our habits, our actions—our whole lives—into resonance with God’s design for us as human beings. ~ Jennifer Patterson
– A Wise Lifestyle Embraces A Hopeful Expectancy.
We believe in the personal, bodily and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The coming of Christ, at a time known only to God, demands constant expectancy and, as our blessed hope, motivates the believer to godly living, sacrificial service and energetic mission. ~ EFCA Statement of Faith Article 9
– A Wise Lifestyle Embodies An Ethical Consistency.

Christianity has not been tried and found wanting, it has been found difficult and left untried. ~ G.K. Chesterton
Three questions for our reflective application.
1. Is Jesus your wise Teacher?
2. What kind of person are you becoming?
3. How are you growing in a lifestyle of wisdom?
