The Way of Discipleship - Thula Mbambo
In Matthew 28, we are given instructions to go and make disciples. Yet, as Christians, often we fall short of this mandate. A disciple is a kingdom representative here on earth, and in this role, we are called to be like Jesus and to do as Jesus did. In doing this, we are equipped to go into a dark and dying world and live out the scriptures in our various spheres.

1. A disciple is one who has both heard and has answered the invitation by Christ
- In Matthew 28, there are instructions given to the disciples of Jesus - to go and make more disciples.
- The appropriate response to the invitation is to a whole life of discipleship to Jesus.
- Discipleship is an invitation to a new way of life - a way that you have never walked in before, it is a new way of thinking, of living one's life.

2. Discipleship means to be with Jesus
- When Jesus called the disciples, it was an invitation to be with him, to spend time with him.

3. Discipleship means becoming like your Rabbi
- We become like those we spend a lot of time with.
- When you and I take time to be with Jesus and abide with him, we start to look, act and speak like our Rabbi Jesus.

4. Discipleship means doing what your Rabbi did
- Just as the good news was preached to us and we responded, we are to be a conduit through which Christ can make his appeal through us.
- Christ is looking for visible and verbal disciples who are not afraid to go public with their testimonies.

Remember:
Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ.
