Apart from Christ who unites us, we are all sinful and deserving of God’s Wrath.
Romans 3 Outline
1.) Verses 1-8 God’s Righteousness and the advantage of the Jew
2.) Verses 9-20 Man’s Problem of Unrighteousness
3.) Verses 21-26 How Man is made righteous
4.) Verses 27-31 Our Response to this righteousness
Humanity's Problem

1.) Those who sin deserve the wrath of God
2.) Everyone sins

So...

3.) Everyone deserves the wrath of God
All, both Jews and Greeks, are Under Sin
The law does give us knowledge of sin, but does not give us salvation from sin
Justify - declare righteous
Redeem - to buy back
Propitiate - regain right relation to
Two of God's Divine Attributes are on display - His Justice and His Mercy
Discussion questions…

1.) Nature of Sin: Considering Paul’s depiction of humanity as universally unrighteous, how should this shape our view of God and ourselves?

2.) The Role of the Law: Paul argues that while the law does not save us, it is still important. How can we balance understanding the law's purpose with our freedom in Christ? What does it mean to uphold the law in light of our faith?

3.) Unity in the Gospel: How does recognizing that all people are justified by faith alone foster unity within the church? What practical steps can we take to promote humility and avoid pride in our own lives?

4.) The Nature of God: Discuss the attributes of God presented in this passage—His justice and mercy. How does understanding that God is both just and justifier impact our view of His character and our relationship with Him?

5.) Applying Truth to our Lives: How does the truth of the gospel shape the way that you view life? What kind of actions should this produce in our lives as believers?
