MEANT FOR GOOD: Week #3—Procession

Crucial Questions:

1. What is the Procession?
2. Why is the Procession assured for all born of God?
3. How can this affect how we live?

Review of the Series:

Week 1: We discussed the Promise—God's word about our good destination—and the Process—the often painful journey towards that Promise.

Week 2: We examined **Perfection**, the ultimate goal of the Process: a mature, godly character formed through trials and suffering, using Joseph’s life as an example.

Joseph’s Story Continued:

Genesis 40:23–41:1--"Pharaoh’s chief cupbearer forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought. Pharaoh dreamed of standing on the Nile River's bank two years later."

Joseph waited in prison for two more years after pleading with the Cupbearer.

Think About It:

Do you think Joseph grew weary of waiting? Why wasn’t his time in prison long enough already? What was God doing?

Purpose in Suffering:

All suffering has a purpose, even if we don’t understand it.

Key Point: God allowed Joseph’s imprisonment for a greater plan that would glorify Him and benefit Joseph.

Reflect: Have you ever felt like you were waiting endlessly? Could God be using your wait to work for your ultimate good?

God’s Timing and the Procession:

God is always orchestrating events, even when we can’t see it.

Isaiah 30:18 (NLT): "The Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion… Blessed are those who wait for his help."

Pharaoh’s failure to interpret his dream leads to Joseph’s release from prison (Genesis 41:14–16).

The Triumphal Procession

2 Corinthians 2:14 (NLT): "But thank God! He has made us his captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession."

Just as Joseph was exalted after enduring hardship, we too are part of God’s **Procession** when we trust Him through our trials.

God’s Glory and Our Benefit:

Joseph gave all credit to God, humbling himself before Pharaoh.

Key Thought: Humility and trust in God’s timing lead to exaltation (Proverbs 25:6-7).

Reflect on how we often strive to control outcomes, but God calls us to rest in His provision and timing.

Joseph’s Exaltation:

Genesis 41:37–46

Pharaoh places Joseph over all of Egypt. God’s process in Joseph’s life led to this moment. Your life is also part of God’s plan.

Reflection: Do you trust that God’s timing is perfect? Are you willing to wait for His exaltation, even in the darkest moments?

The Greater Assurance in Christ:

John 16:33 (NLT): "Take heart because I have overcome the world."

We are part of Christ’s victory and Procession, even when life seems like a struggle.

Illustration: Like Shaun White’s second victory run, our lives are a triumphal procession after Christ’s ultimate victory.

Application: Trusting God’s Process

How can you see your own journey as part of God’s triumphal procession? What areas of your life require more trust in His timing and less striving for control?

Key Scriptures to Meditate On:

Genesis 41:14-16
Isaiah 30:18
2 Corinthians 2:14
Proverbs 25:6-7
John 16:33

Closing Thought:

Trust that your life, like Joseph’s, is held securely in God’s hands. The Process is not the end—there is always a Procession coming, where God will display His glory through you.
