https://freedomkw.online.churchPaul: I am not ashamed of the gospel (16a).
Q: Why not, Paul?
Paul: Because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes (16b).
Q: How so, Paul?
Paul: Because in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, that is, God’s way of justifying sinners (17).
Q: But why is this necessary, Paul?
Paul: Because the wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness (18).
Q: But how have people suppressed the truth, Paul?
Paul: Because what may be known about God is plain to them … For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities … have been clearly seen … (19–20).

1. You’re not crazy. The world really is a dark place because of the effects of sin and rebellion against what God has revealed. We want it our own way and we’ve been given over to what we think we want.
2. You’re not innocent. No matter how religious or moral you are, no matter how much “better” you are compared to your neighbour, everyone is guilty of sin. No one is right before God no matter how much good they do or what they don’t do.
3. You’re invited. We all have equal standing with God and receive this word to remind us that God’s judgment is just but in His kindness, forbearance, and patience He’s calling us to Himself. He doesn’t have favourites. We’re all His favourites.
