THE THREE DIMENSIONS OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE:

EXPERIENTIAL <-----> ETHICAL <-----> EVANGELISTIC
WHAT ARE THE BLESSINGS?

3“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

5Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Dallas Willard, The Divine Conspiracy...

“The religious system of his day left the multitudes out, but Jesus welcomed them all into his kingdom. Anyone could come as well as any other. They still can. That is the gospel of the Beatitudes.”

“Blessed are the physically repulsive, Blessed are those who smell bad, The twisted, misshapen, deformed,The too big, too little, too loud, The bald, the fat and the old--For they are riotously celebrated in the party of Jesus.”

SO WHAT DO THE BEATITUDES MEAN FOR US?

> We can expect Jesus to turn things on their heads

> We live and work with hope because Jesus is coming again

> Power, possessions, and prejudices no longer define us

> Any of us are welcome to the Kingdom of Christ
