This Week's Bulletin

Here we see God's awesome power at work in Protecting the Israelites. The pillar of cloud, that represented God’s presence, and that was going BEFORE the Israelites to LEAD them, now moved BEHIND them, between them and the Egyptian army, in order to PROTECT them.
God's power is what divided the Red Sea. God’s power made sure that the ground that was previously covered by hundreds of thousands of gallons of water just a few hours earlier, was made completely DRY.

God then allowed the Israelites to cross, and the Egyptians to get to the middle. The text tells us that God waited for the precise moment when ALL of Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen were in the midst of the sea.
God threw the Egyptians into the sea. And the Israelites had a front row seat, to see God do this. How did they respond?

1) They feared the Lord.
{when we don't recognize God's work in our lives, it can cause pride to increase in our hearts, because we feel that WE are the ones accomplishing great things. This can lead to a lack of intimacy with the Lord. Then pride and a lack of intimacy leads us to opportunities to disobey Him, which we indulge in, because we think we're the ruler of our lives.
How can we cultivate fear of the Lord and belief in Him?

1) Feed on the Scriptures.
2) Lood for evidence of God's work.
3) Fervently pray for an increase of both. “Ask, and it will be given to you”(Matt. 7:7). Or to put it negatively, “You do not have because you do not ask” (James 4:2).
4) Associate closely with those who walk in the fear of God and are confident in God.
