The Book of James in the New Testament is a quick read—just five chapters. I recommend it. In chapter 2, James warns against partiality. He gets pretty specific about people in the church who were favoring the wealthy and treating the poor differently. Talk about discomfort! I’m sure it was not an easy message to hear.
