A new CLA class begins Sunday, July 21st at 9:00 a.m. on the book, When People Are Big and God Is Small: Overcoming Peer Pressure, Codependency, and the Fear of Man. Author and biblical counselor Edward Welch teaches that we can experience joy in our Christian lives as we need other people less and love them more. This groundbreaking work has helped countless numbers of people to confront their fear of man and live in freedom. We’ll read and discuss the book during the rest of July and August, in Arlington B classroom Sundays at 9:00 a.m.

Life in Christ is the process of learning to trust God more and more.
Peter and the disciples saw afresh that…
~Jesus has all authority and power. He is in control of the storms of life.
~Jesus has all knowledge. He knows where we are and what we are experiencing.

1. Jesus _____________________________ –
With Christ, we do not need to fear any storm.

2. Jesus never _______________________________________.
This miracle is not to teach people how to walk on water, but rather to teach people who can’t walk on water that God can.

Home Group/Study Questions
These questions are provided for your further study and application of today’s sermon. Thoughtfully writing out the answers to these questions will help to drive home the truths we are learning.
1. Was there any passage of scripture or statement in the message today that was particularly meaningful or applicable to you?
2. The miracle of the feeding of the 5000 and Jesus's walking on water were turning points in the disciples' faith. Though still far from perfect, they saw Jesus more clearly, and their faith was strengthened. Can you remember a time when your relationship with Jesus took a giant step forward? What was the circumstance? What changed in your life?
3. Have you ever doubted or questioned God’s love for you? Sometimes struggles cause us to question God’s presence (God, where are you?), His knowledge (God, do you know what’s going on?), or His care (God, if you love me, you would…). How did Jesus demonstrate His love for Peter and the disciples in the miracle of walking on water?
Testimony time: Describe a time when you experienced Jesus’ love for you.
4. Read James 1:2-5. Contrary to popular sentiment, God will place us in situations that are more than we can handle. But never more than He can handle. Do you agree with the statement: “This miracle is not to teach people how to walk on water, but rather to teach people who can’t walk on water that God can, and they must trust Him!”?
How can you encourage a fellow believer who is facing a trial?

Giving Online
Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is part of our worship. (2 Corinthians 9:7; Proverbs 3:9; Malachi 3:10)
We thank those who have helped us fulfill our mission and vision, and we ask you to pray that all of the giving to West End Baptist Church would be used to glorify God in carrying out His will as Scripture instructs and the Holy Spirit leads.
