We begin this week's message with a picture of The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci. People have spent hours studying this picture and trying to read the room it illustrates. While we may not know all the specifics of what happened in this room, what we do know is what Jesus said in this room and we find it in John 13-16.
It's at this table that Jesus introduces us to a new way of living. Read John 13:3-5. How do you think the disciples were feeling in this moment?
Read John 13:12-15. Jesus set a clear example for us to follow. What does this mean for us?
As Gina said, "At this moment, Jesus changed the tone of the room and our lives". He gave us an example of Servanthood. How is Servanthood "Mission Critical"?
Unfortunately, we often miss the social cues that could lead us to help serve others. What blurs our vision and gets in our way of serving others like Jesus?
As the dinner moved on, Jesus began to take His example of Servanthood even further by issuing a new command, based on a new covenant. Read John 13:34. As Jesus Followers, how have we been called to a new way of living and a new way of loving?
Thankfully, we don't have to do this alone! The Holy Spirit is not limited to a room- He is accessible to everyone. Take time and pray to our Heavenly Father and thank Him for the examples of Servanthood and unconditional love that Jesus set for us. Also, thank Him for the Holy Spirit living within us that guides us to be God's hands and feet.
