We have an enemy, and his name is satan. His plan is to deceive, divide, and defeat us. Knowing our enemy means we recognize his scheme to stop God’s plan from manifesting in our lives.
The devil tempts Jesus in three distinct ways: first, by tempting His flesh; second, by tempting His ego; and third, by tempting His faith. Our enemy never grows weary in tempting us, so we must be armed with God’s word and always be alert.
Our flesh is usually the enemy’s first target because apart from the spirit it’s weak and not paying attention. When we succumb to our enemy’s temptation we exchange our righteousness for rags. Satan tried to tempt the literal “Bread of Life” with a stone!
When our flesh rules we lose. Defeating our enemy means we invoke the cross! Our flesh will fail until it’s crucified.
We achieve victory over our enemy when we gain victory over our flesh through faith. Faith is undefeated because Jesus can’t lose!
