1. Who is the woman in 17:1 and have we already met her?
2. Give the reasons why she might and might not be a personification of Rome?
3. Give the reasons why she might and might not be a personification of Babylon?
4. Give the reasons why she might and might not be a personification of Jerusalem?
5. What does it suggest about the woman that she is adorned with ornamentation, marked with names and full of abominations?
6. What does the beast represent and why does she sit upon it? (vs. 3)
7. Why does it matter that the woman/city is drunk on the blood of martyrs? (vs. 6)
8. John is questioned by the angel when he marvels at what he sees. Do you think it’s possible that we, like John, have presumptuous reactions to what we see in Revelation that reveal our misunderstandings? (vs. 7)
