Five Questions

Five Questions

We've seen how Paul starts his letter to the Romans by laying Gospel Foundations: our need to be justified (declared "not guilty") by God and how He makes this possible through faith alone. So…now what? In chapters 5-8, Paul shifts his focus to what this gospel produces. He highlights the fruit (benefits) the gospel brings to those who believe it, and how this in turn produces even more fruit (Christ-honoring attitudes and actions) in their lives. Join in as we delight in our justification ("not guilty!"), peace, hope, reconciliation, freedom from sin, and Spirit-filling, among so many other amazing Gospel Fruits!

Baptism is a public witness of an internal reality, that the person has passed from death to life by trusting Jesus alone for salvation. Today we’re baptizing Jon Spradlin by Alex Schimek & Manny Romero.
Beyond Sunday

Growing with Jesus isn’t just for Sundays. Make it an everyday, everywhere, with everyone mission by going “beyond Sunday”!

Engage in these resources on your own and with your Grow Group*, family, or a friend:

Grow
• To gain context for today’s passage, read this recap of Romans 5-8 from BibleProject: npberean.org/beyond24.
• Copy Romans 8:31-32 on a card. Read it every morning when you wake and every evening before bed, until you know it by heart.
• Use the words of Psalm 56 to help you entrust to the Lord any areas of fear or hurt in your life.

Share
• Romans 8:32 urges us to believe in God’s generosity and love. Consider one (even small) way you could show his generosity to another person this week. Then commit to do it!
• Write out Romans 8:37-39 in your own words. How can you share this truth through your words or actions this week?

Connect
• How does what we learned today help us trust and follow the Lord, even in the face of life’s greatest challenges? Share examples of how doing this can mature our faith.
• Listen several times to One Thing Remains (npberean.org/beyond25). Then journal how this song can help to strengthen your faith when the going gets tough.

* Connecting in community with other believers is crucial for spiritual growth. Explore group options at npberean.org/gg

Next Week's Sermon

All over the world today, we can see the 80/20 rule at play, where 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people. It shows up in businesses, in clubs, and sadly…even in the church. But the truth is, there's no such thing as a Christian whose role is just sitting on the sidelines. The church is commonly called "the Body of Christ" because – just like in our physical bodies – Every Part Plays a Part. But how do we find our part to play? And how do we step into it well? Join in as we look at the necessity of Unity in Spirit, which leads to Unity in Serving and Unity in Generosity. Let's not be an 80/20 church, but a body where 100% of us play the part we were designed to play.
