Part 1 - The Struggle of Self-Deception and Self-Sabotage in Leaders
These two issues are quite common in developing leaders. Self-Deception comes from our ability to apply or create truth to fit our circumstances. Self-Sabotage comes from our perception of circumstances not being filtered through the lenses of the Word and God’s Spirit.

SELF-DECEPTION - the act of misleading or hiding the truth from yourself.
Turning aside to serve and worship other gods
Seems to be wise in this age
Not recognizing the universal principles of sowing and reaping
Drinking your own kool-aid
Not understanding the principle of good and perfect gifts from heaven
Not understanding the seed of the Word changing your soul
SELF-SABOTAGE - the deliberate damage, obstruction, or destruction (however unnoticed and unintentional) preventing the success of a plan
Not recognizing the absence of truth in us
Self-Deception and Self-Sabotage
-happen to leaders.
-is not fatal to leaders.
-has consequences, but God is still faithful!
-does not change the identity of leaders.
**David was still a man of repentance and a man after God’s heart.
**Elijah was obedient, anointed a new king, trained Elisha in his place; killed God’s enemies, and was taken before death into heaven.
**Moses still led the children of Israel to the door of the promised land.

The organs of sense are not able to move us without first going through our filters.
2 - Self-deception produces an ability to blame others internally and leads to self-sabotage.
Part 2 - The Struggle of Self-Deception and Self-Sabotage in Leaders
Maturity is measured when our senses, by choices, are filtered through our spirit man.
3 - Self-deception creates a heightened personal responsibility (a works image) leading to self-sabotage in lacking Divine reason and focus.
Divine reasoning (His thinking) and information (His Word) are the truths that discern facts.
It is a sin to give your attention and focus to anything you don’t have a Divine perspective on.
5 - Self-deception attracts negative and small thinking people leading to self-sabotage, where high level volunteers are absent
6 - Self-deception creates expectations of failure that plague thinking leading to self-sabotage
Failure to hit the “bullseye” is never the fault of the target
7 - Self-deception creates a struggle in learning from others and taking risks based on it, leading to self-sabotage.
You must win the battle on the inside before it is seen on the outside.
Self-Deception comes from our ability to apply or create truth to fit our circumstances.
Self-Sabotage comes from our perception of circumstances not being filtered through the lenses of the Word and God’s Spirit.

1 - Self-deception produces a poor understanding of people leading to self-sabotage.
- Requires a determination of what not to know about people.
