Walk The Walk
I John 2:5-6
Pastor Adam Parmenter
ā€œBy this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.ā€
ā€¢ Abide in Christ=Fellowship
ā€¢ Abide in Christ=Walk in the Light
ā€¢ Abide in Christ= We are Family
FAMILY
My Fatherā€™s expectation ā€“ Do not sin
FAMILY
My Fatherā€™s wisdom ā€“ I will sin

ā€œBut if anyone does sin...ā€
1 John 2:1

ā€œIf we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves...ā€
1 John1:9
FAMILY
My Fatherā€™s provision ā€“ Jesus my advocate

ā€œ...we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.ā€
1 John 2:1
WALK
I John 2:6 ā€œ...walk in the same way in which he walked.ā€
Greek word translated as ā€œwalkā€ is Ļ€ĪµĻĪ¹Ļ€Ī±Ļ„į½³Ļ‰ (peripateō)
-To make my way
-To live

I John 2:4 ā€œWhoever says...ā€

Donā€™t just talk the talk, walk the walk.
Jesus walked the way of love
OLD COMMANDMENT
Leviticus 19:17&18
ā€œ...love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.ā€
NEW Commandment
John 13:34
ā€œ... love one another: just as I have loved you.ā€
My actions, my walk are motivated by whatā€™s inside (my heart, my mind)

Love inside my heart and mind result in loving actions and loving words.

When my words and actions are motivated by love, I am helping defeat the darkness.
In the last few weeks, have there been times when my Words and actions were motivated by love?
Have there been times when my words actions were NOT motivated by love?

Next week what, by Godā€™s grace, could I do differently?

Flower Bed Maintenance Needed

Spring is finally here and we need help maintaining the churchā€™s flowerbeds. If you're willing to adopt-a-flower bed for the summer, please contact the church office or feel free to stop by the church at your convenience and pull weeds from whatever flowerbed catches your eye. If you contact us in advance, we can arrange for the shed to be open so you can get tools; otherwise feel free to bring your own.

Attention Graduates

As we prepare to recognize our college and high school graduates this year, we want to be sure that we donā€™t miss anybody. If you will be graduating, please contact the church office no later than Sunday, May 26. Also, if you let us know when your graduation open house is, we would be more than happy to publish it in upcoming bulletins. We are planning to recognize our graduates during the morning worship service on Sunday, June 2. For questions or more info, contact Kim in the office.

Have You Considered?

Did you know that if your bank offers online services, you can set your tithe up as a regular ā€˜bill paymentā€™ through your bank? This is a convenient option to help with continuity in giving and the ability for you to tithe even when you are on vacation or miss church. It eliminates having to wonder if you turned in your offering while you were gone! If you have questions or would like more information about how to utilize this convenient option, check with your banking institution or contact the church office.

Pop Cans = Scholarships

Donā€™t forget that your beverage can & bottle donations are used to fund teen scholarships for youth retreats, summer camps, special activities, etc. Please bring your recyclable items to the church anytime!
