Rooted In His Word

Rooted In His Word
Where do you run when YOU'RE HURTING?

TODAY WE NEED TO RUN BACK TO THE ARMS OF HEAVENLY DAD.

Jesus modeled for us how to live today.

Jesus established Peter as the shepherd to oversee, care for, nourisher, protect, and guard the sheep.

PETER RAN BACK TO THE WORD OF GOD. HE FOUND HIS SOLACE & STRENGTH, FEED HIMSELF, SO HE COULD FEED THE SHEEP.
3 THOUGHTS:
The world wants SHEEP to be LEAD, but NOT TO BE FED.

IT’S NOT ENOUGH TO HAVE AN INTELLECTUAL FAITH, SUNDAY SCHOOL FAITH, OR DISTANT FAITH, BUT WE MUST RUN TO GOD’s WORD!
2. BROKENNESS is the FERTILE ground of HEALING.

DAVID’s BROKENNESS TOUCHED PETER’S HEART AND GAVE HIM STRENGTH.

THE CROSS IS THE GREATEST INTERSECTION OF ALL TIME; IT’S WHERE OUR BROKENNESS THROUGH HIS BROKENNESS INTERSECTS THE GRACE OF GOD!

THE DEVIL WANTS TO ROB YOU OF THE POWER OF SHARING YOUR BROKENNESS.

FOR EVERY SEASON especially in HURT, WRITE YOUR PSALM and SHARE IT AS GOD LEADS.
3. Going “Back” to God’s Word, Brings Real Answers for Your Life
We don’t read that Bible as if it is only truth of the past, like yesterdays news, IT’S TRUTH FOR TODAY AS WELL!
Peter had ZERO IDEA that his words be be written in the Bible.
HOW QUOTABLE ARE YOU?
- Do your words point to the POWER AND PRESENCE OF GOD?
- Do your WORDS POINT PEOPLE BACK TO SCRIPTURE?

Talk It Over:

Below are Life Group discussion questions based on the message for those who need to finding strength in the midst of adversity.

1. Finding Solace in Hurt:
- Reflecting on times of anger, fear, loneliness, or disappointment, how have you managed these emotions in the past? What has been helpful, and what hasn't?
- Have you ever found yourself avoiding or stuffing down emotional pain? What were the results of this approach?

2. Returning to God's Word:
- How often do you engage with Scripture during times of adversity or distress? Have you found it to be a source of strength and comfort?
- Consider the story of Peter in Acts 1. How did Peter's reliance on Scripture during a difficult time impact his actions and his role within the community?
- Luke quoted Peter who quoted David who found his strength in God. Are you quoted by God? How would you describe the words that come out from your mouth? Do they point others to life and the scripture as Luke, Peter, and David did??

3. Personal Reflection:
- Reflect on a particular season of brokenness or adversity in your life. How did you navigate through it? How did your faith play a role in your journey?
- Do you believe your struggles and brokenness can be a source of healing or strength for others? Why or why not?

4. The Power of Transparency:
- How do you feel about the idea of being transparent with your struggles, even within the context of a faith community?
- Share a time when you've witnessed someone else's transparency about their struggles leading to healing or support within a community.

5. Encouragement and Accountability:
- How can we, as a life group, encourage each other to prioritize time in God's Word?
- Can we commit to being more transparent with each other about our struggles and victories, trusting that our shared experiences can lead to greater healing and growth?

6. Practical Steps:
- What practical steps can you take this week to prioritize engaging with Scripture and seeking solace in God during times of adversity?
- Take 10 minutes and write a psalm of this season. Write out how you feel and ask for God’s truth to heal.
- How can we hold each other accountable in these steps and offer support along the way?
