Sermon Title: Let's Not Think That God Can Be Bribed
Sermon Text: Acts 8:9-25
Preparation Question :When is the last time you truly rested in the grace of God?

Three reminders of the fact that true satisfaction and eternal hope only come through faith in Jesus:
1. When you’re addicted to the attention and affirmation of people, you’ll sell out your faith for your next fix. (v. 9-13, 18-19)

2. God freely offers you His attention and affirmation through faith in Jesus, but you cannot buy it or earn it. (v. 14-17, 20-23)

3. The question of Simon’s eternal fate was left unanswered. Make sure there’s no question about yours. (v. 24-25)

Response Questions
1. Why is the praise of people so alluring to us?
2. In what ways can the praise of people become unhealthy for us, and how do we guard against those potential dangers?
3. Why is a person's life pleasing and acceptable to God only when offered to Him in faith?
4. Why do you think the Bible leaves us wondering whether Simon was truly saved or not?
5. Is there any question about your eternal hope? If so, then entrust your life to Jesus today and settle the matter once and for all.
