The Power To Change
Ephesians 4:17 - 5:20
If we are honest, whether looking in the proverbial mirror or the actual mirror, we see things we want to change. James reminds us that the person who looks into the mirror of scripture and forgets what they look like has a name - fool. But wanting to change and really changing are two very different things. Can you change? Really?
The Christian life is all about change. It is the promise of the Gospel. Not that you can change, but you will change. There is power to change through faith in Jesus. Come learn about the power of the Spirit of God to bring the change God wants for you.

How Can We Experience Renewal and Transformation?
1. Know Your Purpose
• The wrong self.
• The source.
• So…what is my purpose?

2. Love Your Purpose
• The Most Important Question
• No Passion Required?
• Facts and Feelings
• Suffering and pain, comfort and pleasure.

Assignment
1. Consider John Piper’s quote below. When was your most recent ‘Grand Canyon’ moment?
2. Jesus invites you to ‘come to me’. How are you doing that these days? How do you want to do that these days?
3. What is your next step in living out your purpose: Re-mind? Re-start? Re-connect?

“The really wonderful moments of joy in this world are not the moments of self-satisfaction, but self-forgetfulness. Standing on the edge of the Grand Canyon and contemplating your own greatness is pathological. At such moments we are made for a magnificent joy that comes from outside ourselves.”

A Prayer:
Jesus, I agree with you that your purposes for me are better than my purposes for me. I surrender to you! I want to know you and walk with you every waking hour. I want to be passionate about the things you are passionate about. Renew me by your Spirit. Help me by your Spirit to live in the power of purpose: to know it, love it and live it!
Amen

GIVING
Our goal here at Cold Springs Church is transparency. We operate solely on the generosity of those who call Cold Springs home and give regularly to support the mission and vision we are committed to carrying out. God invites us to worship Him in all areas of our lives, including the way we spend our money. Because it is an act of worship, God is more interested in the shape of our heart than the size of our gift.
