1. Blessed.
2. Blessed are the meek.
I Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” KJV
“Meekness is a controlled desire to see the other’s interests advance ahead of one’s own.” (Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount and His confrontation with the World, D. A. Carson, 25).
“He that is down need fear no fall.” (John Bunyan)
Colossians 3:12 “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness (gentleness), longsuffering; KJV.
3. The meek will inherit the earth.
Isaiah 29:19 “The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord"
“The man who is meek is not even sensitive about himself. He is not always watching himself and his own interests…not always on the defensive…Is not one of the great curses in life as a result of the fall—the sensitivity about self?” We watch ourselves. But in meekness, one does not care about himself and what other people say, to worry to protect oneself, not on the defensive. (Studies in the Sermon on the Mount, Lloyd-Jones, 57)
