Introduction

Welcome to Week 3 of our series, "Hot Mess," where we explore how seemingly chaotic aspects of our lives can be guided by divine intention. After discussing family and schedules, we now turn our focus to our jobs, recognizing that every type of work is a calling.

Your Job is to Join God in His Work

Biblical Foundation: Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 2:15

Genesis 1:1 shows us that from the beginning, God was a worker, creating the heavens and the earth. This sets a divine precedent for work.

Genesis 2:15 reveals God inviting Adam to work alongside Him in the Garden of Eden, highlighting that our work is a continuation of God’s creative effort.

Personal Reflection: Consider the different jobs you've had. Did you see them as opportunities to partner with God, or just as means to an end? Reflecting on this can help realign our perspective on work.

Where Do You Find Fulfillment?

Challenges in Finding Fulfillment: It's common to face frustrations at work, whether it's conflicts with colleagues or feeling underappreciated.

However, the Bible redirects us from seeking fulfillment in worldly achievements to finding it in doing God’s will (John 4:34).

Practical Application: Stay-at-home parents: Remember that God values the unseen labor of raising children and managing a household.

Working professionals: Consider how your daily responsibilities can reflect God's purpose, whether you're interacting with colleagues or tackling projects.

You Have Been Assigned Kingdom Work

Understanding Your Role: Working for God doesn’t just mean doing religious activities; it involves recognizing all forms of labor as part of God's kingdom work.

Apostle Paul’s transformation and commitment to spreading the gospel demonstrates how any job can serve a divine purpose (Acts 20:22-24).

Encouragement: For those who feel their work is mundane, remember that every task has eternal significance.

For those new to faith or considering its implications, think about how embracing this perspective could transform your approach to daily activities.

Conclusion: All of Life is for Jesus

Perspectives on Work: Whether you love your job or see it as a necessity, recognize that you can bring God’s presence into any situation.

If you're not currently employed or don't have a traditional job, you can still participate in God’s work by supporting and encouraging others.

Final Thoughts: Remember, you are not just what you do; you are a beloved child of God, called to participate in His work, making your life a testament to His love and purpose.

Let's challenge ourselves this week to see our jobs through this sacred lens, helping others and being stewards of the peace and joy God offers.

Join us as we pray for the strength to embrace our roles as co-laborers with Christ, and for the wisdom to see our work as a part of something much larger than ourselves.
