PREPARE

Prepare for worship by asking God to help you be aware of his presence.

We will be celebrating communion near the end of our time together. We will be serving the Lord's Supper, but we have prepacked elements available for those who prefer them.

If you are joining us online, you can have the traditional juice and bread, but you don't have to. Jesus used what was already there on the table, the bread and wine that were part of their dinner. Those items became significant because he gave them special meaning. So feel free to use whatever beverage and food you have on hand.
PRELUDE

This music has been specially chosen to draw us together and call us to worship. What is your prayer for yourself during this time? For those gathered with you?

Jesus asked, “Who do you say that I am?” Matthew 16:15
WELCOME

Say hello in the comments and let us know you're worshipping with us today. Towards the end of the service, we'll have a time to share joys and concerns and pray for one another. If you are joining us online, use the comments or message us to let us know how we can pray with you today, and we'll include those in our prayer time.

Send us an email and we'll pray for you privately. Let us know if you also want to be included in our prayer list that goes out by email.
CALL TO WORSHIP
(Bold means everyone speaks together)
Jesus said,
“Follow me.”
Jesus said,
“Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid.”
Jesus said,
“Forgive seventy times seven.”
Jesus said,
“Feed my sheep.”
In response, we say:
"Here’s my heart. Take and seal it. Seal it for thy courts above."
Let us worship God with all our hearts.

CALL TO CONFESSION
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
(Bold means everyone speaks together)

Gracious God, like Peter, we crawl out of the boat only to sink. You tell us your truth and we push it away. We ask about forgiveness and are surprised by abundance. We profess our faith and deny it three times.
We run to the empty tomb and leave in silence. Over and over again, we find ourselves wandering along the journey of faith. Tether us to your heart. Forgive our surprise, our denial, and our limited imagination. Call us out of the boat once more. We are eager to return to you. With humble hearts we pray, amen.
WORDS OF FORGIVENESS
(Bold means everyone speaks together)
MUSIC
Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Worship & Rejoice Hymn #68

Verse 1
Come Thou Fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise His name I'm fixed upon it
Name of God's redeeming love

Verse 2
Here I raise to Thee an altar
Hither by Thy help I've come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wand'ring from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Bought me with His precious blood

Verse 3
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart O take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Christ Be Magnified

Verse 1
Were creation suddenly articulate
With a thousand tongues to lift one cry
Then from north to south and east to west
We'd hear Christ be magnified

Verse 2
Were the whole earth echoing His eminence
His name would burst from sea and sky
From rivers to the mountain tops
We'd hear Christ be magnified

Chorus
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me

Verse 3
When ev'ry creature finds its inmost melody
And ev'ry human heart its native cry
O then in one enraptured hymn of praise
We'll sing Christ be magnified

Bridge
I won't bow to idols
I'll stand strong and worship You
And if it puts me in the fire
I'll rejoice 'cause You're there too
I won't be formed by feelings
I hold fast to what is true
If the cross brings transformation
Then I'll be crucified with You
(You can hang me there with You)

Bridge
'Cause death is just the doorway
Into resurrection life
If I join You in Your suff'rings
Then I'll join You when You rise
And when You return in glory
With all the angels and the saints
My heart will still be singing
My song will be the same

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
(Bold means everyone speaks together)

We believe in a God who shows up in our lives—
surprising and catching us off-guard in the best of ways.
We believe in a God who cares for God’s people—
a shepherd who longs for her sheep to be fed and tended.
We believe in a God who took on flesh—
a God whose love changed the world as we know it.
We believe that this here-and-now God invites us out of the boat,
calling ordinary people like Peter, like us, into a life of service and community. And so we give our hearts. We give our whole hearts and nothing less. Amen.
COMMUNION

For I pass on to you what I received from the Lord himself. On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it into pieces and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, he took the cup of wine after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood. Do this in remembrance of me as often as you drink it.” For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are announcing the Lord’s death until he comes again.

Beautiful Things

Verse 1
All this pain
I wonder if I'll ever find my way
I wonder if my life could really change
At all

Verse 2
All this earth
Could all that is lost ever be found
Could a garden come up from this ground
At all

Chorus
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

Verse 3
All around
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found
In You

Bridge
You make me new You are making me new
You make me new You are making me new

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE: JOYS & CONCERNS

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.
Amen.

Hymn of Promise
Worship & Rejoice #515

Verse 1
In the bulb there is a flower
In the seed an apple tree
In cocoons a hidden promise
Butterflies will soon be free
In the cold and snow of winter
There's a spring that waits to be
Unrevealed until its season
Something God alone can see

Verse 2
There's a song in every silence
Seeking word and melody
There's a dawn in every darkness
Bringing hope to you and me
From the past will come the future
What it holds a mystery
Unrevealed until its season
Something God alone can see

Verse 3
In our end is our beginning
In our time infinity
In our doubt there is believing
In our life eternity
In our death a resurrection
At the last a victory
Unrevealed until its season
Something God alone can see
