SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Spiritual growth happens when we receive new knowledge and then apply it to our lives. This always happens best in the context of community. Take time this week and engage in these additional scriptures and questions on your own. Then, discuss them with your Small Group.“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend” Proverbs 27:17
GOING DEEPER
Reflection on the Storms of Life:
What are some storms you've faced recently or in the past? How can Jesus' words, "Don't be afraid; take courage; I am here," provide comfort and hope in the midst of life's storms?
Stepping Out of the Boat:
In what areas of your life do you feel like you're currently "in the boat"?Have you ever felt a call from God to step out of your comfort zone or take a risk? If so, what was that experience like, and how did you discern that God was calling you to step out and not just the pizza from the night before?
Overcoming Fear with Faith:
Fear can often prevent us from following God's call or taking risks. How has fear hindered your faith or decision-making process? How have you cultivated a greater sense of faith and trust in God, even in fear or uncertainty?
Recognizing Jesus as God:
The disciples recognized Jesus as the Son of God when he calmed the storm. As you think of the Old Testament passages, read on Sunday how do they deepen your understanding of Jesus' identity, and how can that understanding influence your relationship with him?
WHERE SCRIPTURE MEETS LIFE
Spend some time in prayer this week, asking God for the courage to step out of your comfort zone, faith to trust in Him during life's storms, and a deeper understanding of Jesus' identity as God.
