EYEWITNESSES – PART 5
MESSAGE NOTES – March 31, 2024
“And he said, ‘Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day. It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: “There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.” You are witnesses of all these things. And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.’” – Luke 24:46-49 (NLT)
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SHARE WHAT WE HAVE HEARD AND SEEN?
“We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.” – 1 John 1:1-4 (NLT)
WE PROCLAIM THAT JESUS IS ETERNAL LIFE
WE PROCLAIM THAT JESUS PROVIDES FELLOWSHIP
WE PROCLAIM THAT JESUS GIVES JOY
HOW CAN WE LIVE AS EYEWITNESSES OF JESUS?
1) WE COMMIT OUR LIVES TO JESUS
“Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, ‘They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!’” – John 20:1-2 (NLT)
2) WE COMMIT OUR CONFUSION TO JESUS
“Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in. She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying. ‘Dear woman, why are you crying?’ the angels asked her. ‘Because they have taken away my Lord,’ she replied, ‘and I don’t know where they have put him.’” – John 20:11-14 (NLT)
3) WE COMMIT OUR FUTURE TO JESUS
‘Mary!’ Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, ‘Rabboni!’ (which is Hebrew for ‘Teacher’). ‘Don’t cling to me,’ Jesus said, ‘for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”’ Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, ‘I have seen the Lord!’ Then she gave them his message.” – John 20:16- 18 (NLT)
