North Platte Berean Church
Abide in Christ
At Easter we saw Jesus' call to follow him through being baptized (identifying with Jesus) and in learning to obey all that Jesus commanded. But how do we go about obeying Jesus in his commands? We'll see today that we start as we abide (a deep connection) with Christ. This abiding isn't a quick moment, a mere verse of the day, or a passing prayer, but an ongoing and vibrant connection to Jesus. We'll explore what this looks like.

This Week's Sermon: Abide in Christ
Beyond Sunday
Growing with Jesus isn’t just for Sundays. Make it an everyday, everywhere, with everyone mission by going “beyond Sunday”!
Engage in these resources on your own and with your Grow Group*:
Note: We’re evaluating whether or not to continue including this new Beyond Sunday section in the bulletin. If you’ve found it useful and would like us to keep it (and/or if you have ideas to make it better), please let us know at npberean.org/yes.
Think it out
• How would you describe someone who is abiding in Christ? Is that evident in your life?
• Dig deeper into what it means to abide with this resource: The Disciplines of Abiding (npberean.org/beyond14)
Talk it out
• How does time in the Word, prayer, or community help you love as Christ loves you?
• What helps turn your affections toward Jesus? What distracts you from Him?
Live it out
• Memorize John 15:5. Repeat it throughout this week to evaluate how well you are abiding.
• Who in your life needs to experience Christ’s love? Consider one way you can lay down your life for them this week? Then do it!
* Connecting in community with other believers is crucial for spiritual growth. Explore group options at npberean.org/gg or contact Andrew (andrewwalker@npberean.org, 308-532-7448).

Next Week's Sermon
The Bible is a unified story with one main story-line (God working to show how He'll once again dwell with his people) and one main character (Jesus Christ). Sometimes when we read the Old Testament, we're unsure how we're supposed to understand stories and their application for us today. Next week we'll read a story of a King who shows great loyal love for one of his enemies for the sake of a covenant he had made. Does that sound familiar?
