Three questions to summarize Moses' final message.
1. What does God really want? Clarifying the _____________ of salvation.
○ The Shema and Jesus teach us that what God really wants is wholehearted love.
○ When I realize what God wants is not my performance but my total heart, I have two equal and opposite reactions: Relief & Terror!

2. Why can’t we do what God wants?
Because the one thing God wants is the one thing I can’t do, and that is to fix my heart disease.
Because the one thing God wants is the one thing I can’t do, and that is to fix my heart disease.
3. Is there a solution?
Understanding what God’s grace can do in the human heart and calling for a decision to surrender.
Notice that the cure for heart disease is something that only God can do. Only God can cure the heart!
- As Moses closes his final sermon, he wants it clearly understood that God is both willing and ready to do a work of grace in our hearts that cures our inward resistance and empowers us to walk forward into the land of victory and fruitfulness.

SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Spiritual growth happens when we receive new knowledge and then apply it to our lives. This always happens best in the context of community. Take time this week and engage in these additional scriptures and questions on your own. Then, discuss them with your Small Group.“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend” Proverbs 27:17
GETTING STARTED
Begin by discussing the UN-Dragoning of Eustice Scrub. How does this story illustrate the sanctification process and surrender's role in that process? Also, how does this story resonate with your own?
From this weekend’s sermon, which statement, point, or insight was most helpful, challenging, or even confusing to you personally?
GOING DEEPER
Reflect on a time when you experienced spiritual amnesia (forgetting God's faithfulness) and its consequences. How can we guard against spiritual forgetfulness in our lives?
Moses’s central focus in Deuteronomy was to show the importance of loving God with all our hearts. How does this perspective differ from focusing solely on obeying rules or performing religious duties?
Read Deuteronomy 6:1-11. What distractions keep “other people” or “you” from worshiping God wholeheartedly?
Read Deuteronomy 6:10-14. When the Israelites occupied the land of Canaan, what were some of the blessings they would enjoy without having to work for them? What did Moses caution them not to forget?
How do you recognize spiritual heart disease in your own life or others? Discuss ways to address and overcome this condition.
WHERE SCRIPTURE MEETS LIFE
Finally, consider the invitation to allow God to begin the work of transformation in our hearts. Are there areas in your life where you resist God's work? How can your group support one another in surrendering to God's transformative power?
What daily and weekly habits/disciplines are helping you fall more in love with Jesus and prepare your mind and heart for daily worship
