In this story, we see a father desperate for his child to be healed. He goes to great lengths to reach Jesus and expresses true belief in His abilities.

GENERAL BIBLE STUDY

1. After reading this passage pause and ask God what He wants you to know from this story.

2. What details stand out to you about this story? Why are those significant?

3. What do you learn about Jesus in the passage that makes you want to know him better?

PASSAGE REFLECTION

1. The father in this story was a royal official, yet he humbled himself before Jesus. What causes you, or would cause you, to feel humbled in the presence of Jesus?

2. The father came to Jesus to ask for healing for his son. Who can you include in your prayers to Jesus this week? Pray now for that person and their situation.

3. Jesus rebuked: Unless you people see signs and wonders…you will never believe. How would you respond if Jesus said this to you?

4. The official believed Jesus when He said that his son was healed, and he started for home. When the father’s servants met him, he received confirmation that the miracle had happened. How have you received confirmation of what God has told you?

5. We need to be discerning when observing events that are called miracles to help determine if they are from God. What can you use to help decide if something qualifies as a miracle?

6. Jesus healed people from all walks of life, showing us that we’re all the same in His sight. How can this help you to love others in a Christ-centered way?

7. After the healing of his son, the man and his entire family believed. How is your belief shaped by what God does in your life?
