Part 1: How God Patiently Develops Your Faith
Cycle: Evil, Oppression, Cried Out, God Delivers through a Judge.

General Principle: We typically don’t change unless we have too.
The protection of God, the will of God, the provision of God and the blessing of God are all FOUND UNDER FEARING AND WORSHIPPING GOD!
CAN’T HAVE JUST ANOTHER SUNDAY SING ALONG;
WE WORSHIP WITH EVERYTHING BECAUSE HE ALONE IS WORTHY!

Gideon doesn't look like a mighty warrior. He isn’t acting like a mighty warrior, but God knows who he is meant to be and calls him to his potential and into his destiny!
You bring your best, which is very little, and God will bring His best, which is more than enough!

I WILL TURN YOUR WEAKNESS INTO MY STRENGTH.
Have you ever wanted assurance from God that He was there and His promises are true?
3 Things:
1. Gideon’s didn't grow his faith instantly.
2. God patiently helps Gideon grow in His faith.
3. God wants you to be 100% Confident in Him…..
What fear is stopping you from going to battle?
Are you willing to sit down for a meal and get a WORD FROM GOD?
The first Battle that Gideon, the Mighty Warrior, would face would be his own IDENTITY.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUILD YOUR FAITH YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO LET SOME DEMONS IN YOUR PAST KNOW WHERE YOU STAND.
Gideon didn’t defeat a real god. He defeated the idolatry, the ideology, and his identity to a fake God.

WHAT ALTAR TO A FAKE GOD DO YOU NEED TO TEAR DOWN TODAY?
Talk It Over

1. Review the message and first read Judges 6. What stood out to you the most about the chapter and the message? What was God saying to you? What confirmed your walk with God? What challenged your walk with God

2. In Judes 6:12, "the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.””Gideon doesn't look like a mighty warrior. He isn’t acting like a mighty warrior, but God knows who he is meant to be and calls him to his potential and into his destiny! Gideon would go on to rescue his nation, but he needed the Lord to remind him of who he was. What word do you need the Lord to remind you of? What word do you believe God is speaking or has spoken over your life and why?

3. Most of us can relate to Gideon and his fear and insecurity. Judges 6:17-18 says, “Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me. Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you.” And the Lord said, “I will wait until you return.” Describe a time in your life when you desired a sign from God - a time possibly you felt afraid or needed reassurance that God is with you?

4. Gideon’s faith didn’t grow to maturity instantly or even after receiving the promise of God, but God patiently waited to grow his faith. In what specific ways has your faith progressed as you have walked more and more with the Lord? God waited for Gideon to bring a sacrifice back to Him - to worship Him. What sacrifice / worship; what meal do you think God is waiting for you to bring to him today?

5. Judges 6:25-26 says, “That same night the Lord said to him, “Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one seven years old. Tear down your father’s altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. Then build a proper kind of altar to the Lord your God on the top of this height. Using the wood of the Asherah pole that you cut down, offer the second bull as a burnt offering.” Describe the significance that the first battle Gideon faced as a mighty warrior was at home?

6. Respond to this statement: If you are going to build your faith you are going to have to let some demons in your past know where you stand. If they are like Baal - they will remain unresponsive to your attack.”

7. Pastor Sean said that “Gideon didn’t defeat a real god. He defeated the idolatry, the ideology, and his identity in a fake God.” Describe the power of tearing down an altar of a false God in your life. If you feel comfortable enough to share a personal altar that you have torn down please do so. It’s not enough to tear down the altar, it must be destroyed beyond repair (burnt down) and replaced with the truth of God. It’s so powerful that Gideon was given a new name, Jerub-Baal, meaning he contends against the false God Baal. If you feel comfortable, what altar to a fake God needs to be torn down today in your life?

8. Spend time in prayer and meet God with your worship. He is waiting for you and will meet you today with a word.
