Attributes of God
Eternal - Infinite - Omnipresent - Immaterial
Pastor Jerry Koller
Review:
· An attribute of God is whatever God has in any way revealed as being true of Himself.
· Characteristics are features or qualities of someone or something. They can, and do, change.
God’s attributes are:
· Inherent
· Unchanging
· Eternal
God’s attributes are always in perfect balance.
We cannot project our understanding of human characteristics upon Almighty God’s attributes.
There is no order to God’s attributes.
· One attribute does not build upon another.
The attribute of God called Eternal.

Genesis 21:33

Deuteronomy 33:27

Eternal means “having no beginning or end.”
Everything in creation that exists must have these three elements: time, space, and matter.
· All three of these elements have a beginning and their beginnings are attributed to the creative workings of Almighty God.

Revelation 4:11

In order for someone to bring creation into existence, that person had to already exist. He would have to be “infinite.”
· Finite refers to everything that is governed or limited by time, space, and matter.
· It means having limits or bounds.
God is eternal. God is infinite. Both are attributes of God.
God could create time because He Himself is timeless.
· God clearly acts within time, but His existence cannot be limited by it.
· God views time as a whole.
· God alone views time as a whole because He is transcendent.

Psalms 90:4

2 Peter 3:8

Space is the boundary in which something is located.
· Everything in creation occupies space.
· God is not bound by or limited by space because He is omnipresent.
· Omni is a prefix that means “all, every, or the whole.”
· God’s presence is unrestricted.

Psalms 139:7-8

Psalms 46:1

God is not bound by, or limited to, matter.
· Because He existed before matter was created, we conclude that God is matter-less—or better—"immaterial.”
· God is spirit.
· God cannot be reduced to the material.
· God is also not some force or energy.

John 4:24

A definition of God’s spirituality: God’s spirituality means that God exists as a being that is not made of any matter, has no parts or dimensions, is unable to be perceived by our bodily senses, and is more excellent than any other kind of existence.
