ESSENTIAL THINGS – PART 1
MESSAGE NOTES – January 7, 2024
WHAT IS TRULY NECESSARY IN LIFE?
“That evening the disciples came to him and said, ‘This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.’ But Jesus said, ‘That isn’t necessary—you feed them.’ ‘But we have only five loaves of bread and two fish!’ they answered.” – Matthew 14:15-17 (NLT)
WE ARE AWARE OF OUR NEEDS
WE ARE AWARE OF OUR LACK
WE ARE AWARE OF OUR POTENTIAL
HOW CAN WE LIVE FOCUSED ON ESSENTIAL THINGS IN LIFE?
1) WE LIVE WITH REPENTANCE
“Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way.” – 2 Corinthians 7:9 (NLT)
2) WE LIVE WITH GODLY SORROW
“For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.” – 2 Corinthians 7:10 (NLT)
3) WE LIVE WITH CONVICTION
“Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong. You showed that you have done everything necessary to make things right.” – 2 Corinthians 7:11 (NLT)
