Spiritual growth happens when we receive new knowledge and then apply it to our lives. This always happens best in the context of community. Take time this week and engage in these additional scriptures and questions on your own. Then, discuss them with your Small Group.“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend” Proverbs27:17
GETTING STARTED
Go around the room and introduce one another. Share how long you have been at Cross Bridge, one thing you enjoy about being part of this church, and one thing you hope you will gain from this group.
Have some fun together and discuss if you could take an all-expense paid vacation for 1-2 weeks. Where would you go, and what would you do?
From this weekend’s sermon, which statement, point, or insight was most helpful, challenging, or even confusing to you personally?
DIGGING DEEPER
How does the “The Journey” metaphor from Egypt to Canaan resonate with your spiritual journey? Can you identify specific milestones or significant moments in your spiritual journey so far?
Read Romans 7-8 on your own this week before the group meets and talk about what should be normal for us as followers of Jesus.
When you see a “You are Here” arrow on a large theme park map or in a mall, it helps you orient where you are and know what to do to get to where you want to be as you think of “The Map” or the geography of salvation. Where are you on the map today?
As we enter the new year, what do you want to exit, and how can the map help you enter the new places God has for you?
