Waiting isn’t easy
The Jews were expecting the Messiah to be a political ruler, one who would throw off the chains of the Roman occupation, a king, someone of power and prestige….not a baby born to a peasant woman in the backwoods of Judea.

Mary song
Mary ties everything that is happening back to the promise of Abraham.
Still waiting, but God was working, but not fast enough for Abram.

God fulfill the promise Abraham was a 100 years old

We use a phrase God showed up - bad theology

We aren’t waiting on God, God is waiting on us.
Talk It Over

1. Review the message and first read Luke 1:26-56. What stood out to you the most about the chapter and the message? What was God saying to you? What confirmed your walk with God? What challenged your walk with God

2. Advent is about waiting in expectation and remembering that God comes through on his promises. What are you waiting on right now? What does it means for you to wait in expectation that God will come through on His promises?

3. Do you have a promise of God in your life that hasn’t been fulfilled? Is there something significance that you continue to wait on God to provide? What evidence have you glimpsed, if any, that God is working while you wait?

4. Barry said, “When we use a phrase God showed up that is bad theology.” Explain why this is bad theology? God is always working, moving, and accomplishing His goals.

5. How does the birth of Jesus give you hope that God is actively working for your good and on your behalf, even though you may not be able to fully see it? God doesn’t need us, He wants us to help play a part in His story in bringing the news of hope and redemption to the world. How do you believe God is calling you to play a part of His story of redemption?
