His Kingdom is Unbelievable
December 2/3, 2023
Daniel Im, Lead Pastor
The Kingdom of God is unbelievable because it’s:

1. Unsuspecting
Of all the things that Jesus could’ve used to describe the Kingdom of God, no one would’ve expected a mustard seed.

And he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use to describe it? It’s like a mustard seed that, when sown upon the soil, is the smallest of all the seeds on the ground. And when sown, it comes up and grows taller than all the garden plants, and produces large branches, so that the birds of the sky can nest in its shade.” (Mark 4:30-32 CSB)

The Kingdom of God is what will happen to the mustard seed.

The Kingdom of God will grow and keep growing from obscurity and insignificance.

The power, glory, vastness, beauty, protection, and life-giving nature of the kingdom of God will come from unsuspecting and obscure beginnings.
2. Inclusive
“And when sown, it comes up and grows taller than all the garden plants, and produces large branches, so that the birds of the sky can nest in its shade.” (Mark 4:32 CSB)

The doors of the Kingdom are wide open to everyone and anyone, but while Jesus says “Come as you are,” he doesn’t say, “Stay as you are.”

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 CSB)

Following Jesus requires us to deny ourselves

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. (Matthew 16:24 CSB)
