QUOTE BY RANDY ALCORN
“If God was the owner, I was the manager. I needed to adopt a steward’s mentality toward the assets He had entrusted-not given - to me. A steward manages assets for the owner’s benefit. The steward carries no sense of entitlement to the assets he manages. It’s his job to find out what the owner wants done with his assets, then carry out his will.”
6 MYTHS THAT MAKE US SETTLE INSTEAD BECOMING A STEWARD FOR HIS KINGDOM.
MYTH # 1 - ONLY PEOPLE WITH MONEY SHOULD GIVE
DON’T LET YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES KEEP YOU FROM GIVING.
“It’s not what you do with the million if fortune should ere be your lot, but what are you doing at present with the dollar and quarter you got?"

- UNKNOWN
MYTH # 2 - IT IS UNPLEASANT TO GIVE
THE ONLY REASON SOME OF US HAVE NOT FOUND THE “ABUNDANCE OF JOY” IN GIVING IS BECAUSE WE SIMPLY HAVE NOT PRACTICED IT.
THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT IT IS TO HAVE AN OPEN HAND WITH GOD, HAVE JOY.
MYTH # 3 - GIVING RESULTS IN A LACK OF RESOURCES
SOME OF THE RICHEST PEOPLE I KNOW ARE POOR, AND SOME OF THE POOREST PEOPLE I KNOW ARE RICH! SOME HAVE WHAT MONEY CAN BUY, AND SOME HAVE WHAT MONEY CANNOT BUY.
THE FACT IS, OFTEN THAT OUR LACK OF GIVING IS WHAT RESULTS IN OUR LACK OF RESOURCES.
GOD WILL NEVER ALLOW US TO BE THE LOSER WHEN WE ARE FAITHFUL TO HIS WORD AND OBEDIENT TO HIS WILL.
MYTH # 4 - JUST DO WHAT YOU CAN
IT IS A MYTH TO SAY THAT YOU SHOULD JUST DO WHAT YOU CAN DO. WHEN YOU SAY THAT, YOU LEAVE GOD OUT OF THE EQUATION OF LIFE.

I DON’T NECESSARILY KNOW EXACTLY HOW IT WORKS, BUT THOSE OF US WHO PRACTICE IT KNOW IT’S TRUE.
MYTH # 5 - YOU HAVE TO GIVE; GIVING MUST BE COERCED
STEWARDSHIP IS VOLUNTARY. STEWARDSHIP IS A PRIVILEGE.
THE GRACE OF GIVING WILL OPEN OUR HEARTS, BUT IT WILL ALSO OPEN OUR HANDS.
MYTH # 6 - WE GIVE TO OTHER CAUSES TO HELP THEM
AS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST WE GIVE OURSELVES FIRST TO HIM.
CHALLENGE TO CORINTH
WHERE YOUR HEART IS, WILL REFLECT YOUR TREASURE AND YOUR GENEROSITY TOWARDS GOD’S KINGDOM!
Talk It Over

1. Review the message. What stood out to you the most about the passage and the message? What was God saying to you? What confirmed your walk with God? What challenged your walk with God

2. In the introduction Pastor Brian talked about being a steward? In your own words describe what is a steward and what is not a steward? How does this concept of being a steward change how you view generosity and the resources that God has entrusted you?

3. Reread 2 Corinthians 8:1-9. Overall, how do you feel the churches in Macedonian compare to the churches today and why? What do you think is the biggest struggle when it comes to generosity? What do you think is the biggest opportunity when it comes to generosity?

4. There were six myths when it comes to giving. Which ones can you relate to the most and why? What's one step you can take to change your thinking when it comes to these myths?

5. In these passages of Scripture, the word “grace" was used multiple times. Why was "grace" used over and over? How should grace impact generosity?

6. In verse 9, we see how rich God is and how He become poor for us; so that we can become rich. How does God’s sacrificial giving challenge your path of generosity? What level of generosity do you think God ultimately want with you? Stop and pray and ask God what to give and be obedient to Him.
