Our greatest joy is found in the disciples we make.
Stand firm in the way of suffering, in the way of humility, in the way of faith.
Stand firm in the way of suffering, in the way of humility, in the way of faith.
Division is not because problems exist nor that people fight, but because they are out of position - fighting each other instead of the gates of hell together.
Your marriage, your church, your relationships are a battleground; not your battle.
Your marriage, your church, your relationships are a battleground; not your battle.
What word overall describes your character the best and is evident by others especially in a disagreement?
There is no greater guard than God’s peace - standing post at the gate to your heart.
Your heart, your hands, and your feet, your mouth they all follow your head.
If you are obedient and put into practice the things of God just like your prayers your practice bring God’s Peace.
Christ is all you need.
The greatest investment you could ever make with your money is in the work of God; it's the only monetary gift that gains rewards in Heaven!
Can you personally say, “My giving pleases God?”
When you support God’s work, God takes out his shovel and out of His own infinite riches, takes care of your needs!
We need to be less concerned about our earthly economy and far more concerned about our eternal return on investment.
We need to be less concerned about our earthly economy and far more concerned about our eternal return on investment.
God used the Philippians gifts. In what great ways could use your gift when we are faithful to give to the mission?
Talk It Over
1. Review the message and first read Philippians chapter 4. What stood out to you the most about the chapter and the message? What was God saying to you? What confirmed your walk with God? What challenged your walk with God
2. Paul’s crown jewel of joy is found in Philippians 4:1 - “Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!” Paul valued and loved his disciples more than any other experience on earth. Where does disciple making fall in your list of greatest joys? Why do you think Paul was so excited to develop the next generation of disciples to stand firm in the Lord?
3. Philippians 4:2 says, "I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. Pastor Sean said, division is not because problems exist nor that people fight, but because they are out of position - fighting each other instead of the gates of hell together. Your marriage, your church, your relationships are a battleground; not your battle.” What is the real battle that we should fight together against? What are the defining characteristics of Christians being of the “same mind in the Lord?” How united is your marriage, your family, and your ministry for the cause of Christ?
4. When disagreements occur and division starts to arise Paul tells us in Philippians 4:4-5, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” What word overall describes your character the best and is evident by others especially in a disagreement? What’s your plan to model gentleness as you walk into this week?
5. Pastor Sean said, “there is no greater guard than God’s peace - standing post at the gate to your heart.” Paul said ti this way, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” How does God's peace help you overcome your anxiety, fears, worries, or doubts? What has been the key to you finding God's peace? In the midst of division and suffering describe a battle you have laid at his feet? What was the outcome?
6. Philippians 4:17 says, "Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.” Pastor Sean said, the greatest investment you could ever make with your money is in the work of God; it's the only monetary gift that gains rewards in Heaven!” How do you view your giving to God - more as an investment or and expense? What do you think your spiritual bank account looks like: empty, minimal, growing, large, or full and why? Describe a time that you gave to the Kingdom ofGod and the impact you believe God made through it?
7. Philippians 4:19 says, “and my God will meet all your needsaccording to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” This verse is a promise to those who give to the support of God’s work. When you support God’s work, God takes out his shovel and out of His own infinite riches, pours out his blessing on your needs! How lead are you by God to give to His work and how feed are you by God’s compared to your own hands? Respond to this quote, “we need to be less concerned about our earthly economy and far more concerned about our eternal return on investment.”
Stop and pray to stand firm in your faith so you can fame the name of Jesus in your generation today.
