Even When the Cost is Great
Colossians 3:12-13; Rom. 12:17-21
Pastor Jerry Koller
Forgiveness is cancelling a debt and no longer charging it to someone’s account.
To forgive another means to cancel the debt of what is owed in order to provide the opportunity for repentance and restoration of the broken relationship.
Key: Whether or not we exercise forgiveness should never depend on the size of the transgression.
Never Pay Back Evil For Evil—Two wrongs do not make a right. Evil is always wrong.
Evil has not always existed (Genesis 2).
In the New Testament, the word evil means of a bad nature; not such as it ought to be. It has to do with a mode of thinking, feeling, acting that does not adhere to ethical or moral principles, that are wrong or wicked. It has to do with things that are troublesome, injurious, or extremely harmful.
Example of evil returned for evil: Genesis 34.
Respect What Is Right in the Sight of All Men—the idea of "what is right, or as it should be."
· It includes the proper recognition of man's duty and responsibility toward God.
· This is not an admonition to do what is right according to everyone else’s opinion.
Never Take Your Own Revenge—No matter how trying or difficult the circumstances may be, “Vengeance is Mine,” says God.
Feed and Give Drink to Your Enemy—The emphasis is on doing good to our enemies as Jesus commanded in His Sermon on the Mount.
Good Overcomes Evil
An Additional Consideration—Jesus

Got Candy?

We need a LOT of it brought in for PumpkinFest! If possible, we are asking that each household bring in two or more bags of candy to church each Sunday through October 29. Please leave your candy bags in the pumpkin can outside the church office door. Thanks for your help!

Oktoberfest Celebration 2023

A Time to Give On Sunday, November 5, we will receive a special Oktoberfest Offering.  During our morning worship service, we will have an opportunity to present a monetary gift to God in thanksgiving for His abundant blessings and in joyful celebration of being a church who is committed to being what God wants us to be.  We will receive an extremely important Oktoberfest Offering which will be used solely for payment of our building mortgage (annually about $36,000.00).  Besides celebrating God’s goodness, our Oktoberfest Celebration will also be a time when we can recommit ourselves to fulfilling God’s calling “To Know Him and Make Him Known” and to the goal of living out our faith together.  We are looking forward to what 2024 will bring as we see how God will use our building to impact the lives of others in our community.  If you are unable to join us for the service, we hope you’ll consider either mailing or making an online contribution ahead of time.  Your offering is vital to our ability to pay the mortgage.  We thank you for prayerfully considering how you can contribute.   A Time of Fellowship Following our worship service on November 5, we will enjoy a time of food and fellowship with a Potluck Dinner.  Please bring a main/side dish AND a dessert to share that feeds at least 10-12 people. Sign up online at https://www.PerfectPotluck.com/LXBV1183 to let us know what you’re bringing and to avoid too many duplicate dishes. A Time to Help If you’re able to help with the potluck (set-up, serving, and/or clean-up), please SIGN-UP ONLINE at the linke below or contact Kim Collins.
