Isaiah 6:
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”
4 At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”
6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Here are two things to notice about this text describing Isaiah’s call to be God’s prophet.
1. Isaiah saw the Lord
2. Isaiah responded to God in two ways
a. He realized how great and holy God is and how little and sinful he is.
b. He heard the call of God and said, “Here am I. Send me.”
What moments do you remember being struck by the greatness of God?
To what have you said to God, “Here am I. Send me.”
John 4:19-24
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” 21 Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time
is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.” Jesus told the woman at the well that worship is not a matter of place. It is easy to extend that to forms and styles of worship. Worship is a matter of the spirit and truth.
--How do you know when you are worshiping in spirit? In truth?
--When do you sense you are worshipinig God with ALL of your heart and with ALL of your soul and with ALL of your mind and with ALL of your strength?
J.B. Phillips wrote a book titled, Your God Is Too Small. God is
so great that it is difficult to comprehend his vastness. At the
same time, there are many things we do to reduce God into a
size we think we can handle.
--In what ways do you make God manageable in your life?
In the moments when you resist what is happening in corporate
worship, what do you think God is asking you to learn?
The way of the disciple
1. Desire to become a fully committed follower of Jesus
Christ
--What is the evidence in your life that shows you are working to become a fully committed follower of Jesus Christ?
2. To follow Jesus wherever He leads no matter what.
--God often makes us uncomfortable. What are some instances in which we resisted God’s leading?
--What keeps us from following “no matter what?”

BEYOND SUNDAY
What does it mean to be the church of Jesus Christ? During this 8-week series, we will focus on what it means to be the community of believers. This week, our focus is on recognizing our forgiveness and who we are called to be as a giving community.
1. Jesus tells us to worship Him “in spirit and in truth.” What does it mean to worship in spirit? On Sunday morning at PCC, are you focused on worshiping God? Or are you a spectator at what is going on? Are you a player on the field or on the court? Or are you a fan watching from afar?
2. What would it look like if you were able to worship God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength? Does my mind wander during prayer or the message?
3. What does it mean to worship in truth? Is truth relative, unique to each person? Is truth absolute, applicable to everyone?
4. Do you sense the presence of God when you worship with your brothers and sisters on Sunday mornings? Do you ask God to touch you as you worship on Sunday mornings?
