Talk It Over

1. What stood out to most about the message? What did God confirm in your life? What made you uncomfortable, but made you think? What challenged you the most?

2. Pastor Sean started his message with this question, "What do you think about when you think about God?” What words come to mind? What images come to mind?

3. Pastor Sean said that God is revealing himself to you through creation, the Bible, and through Jesus. Describe Hebrews 1:3 in your own words. It says, "The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.” Based on the verse, if you want to know God, what is the best way to see him?

4. Pastor Sean listed six types of Fathers: the absent father, the abusive father, the passive father, the performance father, the antagonistic father, and the empowering father. Out of the list, if you feel comfortable, which one best describes your dad and why? Respond to these two quotes: 1. “God is not just the bigger version of your dad; He is the perfect version of your dad & more” ~ Loui Giglio. 2. “Your father isn’t only a dad, but also a son.”

5. 1 John 4:9-10 says, “This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Based on the verse, describe how much God loved you. In what ways has your view of your Heavenly Father been impacted by your earthly father?

6. Luke 15:20b describes when the prodigal son came home. It says, “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” Describe that moment in your life when God ran and embraced you? If you don't have that moment, what do you think is stopping you? Pray and thank God for his never ending love and grace for you.
